Student Intern (Business, Education, Criminal Justice and Political Science)

Harris-Stowe State University is a historically Black institution (HBCU) located in the heart of vibrant mid-town St. Louis, Missouri.  Harris-Stowe’s beautiful campus is minutes from the renowned Gateway Arch, St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Art and History Museums, Forest Park and other cultural and educational institutions.  Harris-Stowe’s diverse faculty and staff provide a wide range of academic programs to one of the most culturally diverse student bodies in the St. Louis region.

Job Title: Student Intern – (Education, Business, Criminal Justice, and Political Science)
Job Weekly Hours: 25 – 30 hours; must complete a minimum of 240 clock hours per semester
Pay Rate: TBA
Work Cycle: March 1st– May 11th
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Center for Career Engagement would like to offer the students of Harris-Stowe State University vital career and network building opportunities through its Project Success Internship Program. This semester-long paid internship is for students majoring in Arts & Science, Business, and Education who want to develop real-world skills in accounting, management, finance, communication, information technology, education, criminal justice and political science.

Successful candidates will have strong communication and leadership skills. This internship is conducted on and off campus and open to currently enrolled first-year students, sophomores, and juniors only.

  • Must be in good standing with the University; Academically, Socially and Financially:
    • Any student placed on academic probation or social probation does not qualify to participate in the program. The student may reapply to the program once the probation is removed.
    • Students must be in good financial standing with the university, and maintain their HSSU Bursar account throughout their employment as a student employee.
  • Students must be “unconditionally” admitted to the university in their degree-specific internship course the semester the paid internship is awarded if they are seeking credit for the internship.
  • Students must attend all required course meetings associated with the internship course if they are seeking credit.
  • Internships must be able to complete a minimum of 240 clock hours of productive work experience during the serving semester.  


  • Currently enrolled in their degree-specific internship course the semester.
  • Must have completed at least 30 credit hours towards the degree-specific that qualifies you to apply for the specific internship.
