Adjunct Instructor in Health Care Management

Harris-Stowe State University is a historically Black institution (HBCU) located in the heart of vibrant mid-town St. Louis, Missouri.  Harris-Stowe’s beautiful campus is minutes from the renowned Gateway Arch, St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Art and History Museums, Forest Park and other cultural and educational institutions.  Harris-Stowe’s diverse faculty and staff provide a wide range of academic programs to one of the most culturally diverse student bodies in the St. Louis region.

Harris-Stowe State University seeks to fill adjunct faculty positions in Health Care Management program in the Anheuser-Busch School of Business.  The adjunct faculty teaching positions will cover a broad range of core and specialized courses in Health Care Management program.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

TEACHING
  • Teach up to two classes per semester (fall, spring, summer).
  • Design and develop curriculum and instruction and class management strategies for all courses, including syllabi and lesson plans and more.
  • Assess the students’ learning outcome for all courses thought bases on the school and its programs’ set goals and objectives.
  • Review periodically and assure curriculum and instruction of courses are relevant and up to date.
  • Review and become proficient with the HSSU Learning Management Systems.
  • Utilize innovative teaching and technology approach in teaching.
  • Develop faculty goals and objectives and annual report for every academic year.
  • Make sure students’ attendance and grades are turned in on-time.
  • Adhere to the university faculty handbook.
SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES
Participate along with full-time faculty in:
  • Professional and scholarly activities including:
  • Paper presentations
  • Publish article and books
  • Submission of grant proposal
  • Consulting
  • Attendance at local, regional and national professional conferences
  • Conduct research
  • Maintain membership and leadership involvement in Community, Professional and National Government Organizations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Master’s Degree in Health Care Management  or closely related discipline
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience
  • Five years of professional experience in the field of teaching
  • The ideal candidate should be familiar with both on-line and on-campus teaching methods.
Preferred Qualifications:  
  • A terminal/doctorate degree in Health Care Management/ Business Administration or closely related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in developing and designing innovative curriculum and delivery is desired.
  • A track record of excellence in teaching to a diverse undergraduate student body is greatly appreciated
 
OTHER SKILLS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Proficient to work with on-line educational platform
